Rob Gronkowski wants some Polish sausage? Fresh from Sunday's 41-13 win over AFC East division rivals the Miami Dolphins, NFL superstar, Tom Brady's BFF and New England Patriots tight end Rob 'Gronk' Gronkowski will be making waves off the field this week as a guest star on Top Chef: Boston. With host Padma Lakshmi and Gronk flirting outrageously and awkward, dubious 'sausage' jokes aplenty, this looks like it'll be an episode you won't want to miss.
In the teaser trailer, Gronkowski and Lakshmi are waiting for the chefs as they file into the kitchen, and crowd favorite Katsuji Tanabe exclaims "Who's this guy with Padma? That guy is huge. He's huge! Did I mention he's huge?"
"Do you mind if I call you Rob? I know everyone calls you Gronk," asks Laksmi. "That's fine," says Gronkowski. "You can call me 'Honey'," giggles Lakshmi.
The Top Chef: Boston chefs will be faced with a large, muscle-bound challenge this week as they're tasked with making a 'big' sausage dish. In a tribute to Gronkowski's Polish heritage, they will be asked to make a 'big sausage' for Gronk, who, as ESPN say, has a legit case for NFL MVP this year.
"I never would've guessed you were such a gourmand," offers Lakshmi. "I love my foods," replies Gronk in the teaser, "but I'm Polish. And I want a polish sausage today."
"It's time to feed the big guy", announces Padma."I have a feeling you eat a lot," she adds.
"I do. I need a big sausage," replies Gronk.
"Me too," fires back Padma.
After they all collapse into laughter, Gronk grins and says "Honey, stop embarrassing me."
Says Top Chef contestant and DC native George Pagonis, "I love football, I'm a huge Washington Redskins fan, but I hate the Patriots, and now Gronk, one of their star players is here. Great."
This week will also see the chefs tackle a uniquely Boston-flavored Elimination Challenge, as all dishes will take literary inspiration from famous New England authors including Stephen King, Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickinson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Dr. Seuss.
Top Chef: Boston Episode 9: Big Sausage airs tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 10 p.m. You can watch the trailer below.
