Alyssa Milano Instagram Breastfeeding Battle with Wendy Williams Shows 'Who's The Boss'!
Who's the Boss and Charmed star Alyssa Milano stirred controversy after posting photos breastfeeding her children on her Instagram, and she's turned into an advocate of breastfeeding in public ever since -- and that includes going on Wendy Williams' show to fight the talk show hostess about it!
Last Thursday, Milano went on The Wendy Williams Show to talk about her support for women breastfeeding in public, a stance that has been lauded by many and criticized by another large group of people, including Williams, who said she just didn't "want to see that," prompting Milano to quickly go on the defense.
According to Yahoo! News, Milano suggested that the main problem is that society over-sexualizes breasts, which is why so many people are against women feeding their young children in public. To that, Williams said that breasts were only used for breastfeeding for "a particular amount of time," and they were "sexual things" over the rest of a woman's life.
"You're lucky the baby's not here, I'd whip 'em out, and feed him right on your show!" Milano joked during her appearance to a round of applause, while Williams looked uncomfortable at the notion.
Although Milano took the whole thing in good humor and very calmly made her point, she's in fact one of the most outspoken pro-breastfeeding people in Hollywood. Latin Post reports that, for Milano, being an advocate for this cause wasn't something she was striving for, but her decision to document her breastfeeding journey made her see how opinionated people are about it.
According to The Huffington Post, a growing number of celebrities have been showing their support for breastfeeding in public in the past few years. Some of the ladies who aren't afraid to feed their babies in public are actress Jaime King, singer Pink and even supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
