New Jennifer Lawrence Funny Or Die Mocks How at 25 She's Always Playing Middle Aged Women
In her roles like David O. Russell's American Hustle and most recently, Joy, Jennifer Lawrence has been hired to play women in their middle age with several children even though she's only 25. This has prompted a lot of criticism. Now, Funny Or Die turns J-Law into something totally different: a hot granny!
As MTV reports, the site just released a hilarious new fake trailer for an upcoming movie, where it is pointed out just how much she plays older women even though she's still half a decade away from turning 30.
According to The Huffington Post, in the fake trailer Lawrence plays an 89-year-old woman who's going through a rough patch with her boyfriend (80-year-old Donald Sutherland) as well as her great-grandson (72-year-old Robert De Niro), as she plays a "really really old lady who still looks totally young and hot."
Absurd as it may sound, it might not be too far from reality. Last month, the actress actually told Kelly Ripa and Michael Straham that they were planning another film with the usual Russell squad, in which Lawrence would be playing De Niro's mother.
Of course, the parody's a fairly accurate portrayal of the truth, considering Lawrence's huge break, when she was 21 saw her playing a widow in Silver Linings Playbook, a movie where she was paired up with 38-year-old Bradley Cooper. Barely two years later, she played the mother of a 5-year-old, married to 39-year-old Christian Bale in American Hustle -- and now, audiences are supposed to believe she's a mother of three in her 40's in Joy.
Besides Lawrence being much too young to play these roles, there's one thing these three films have in common: they're all directed by Russell. So the problem might not be the actress taking roles that are completely off base age-wise, but rather the director somehow forgetting there are other actresses out there.
