'Young & the Restless' Star Burgess Jenkins Twitter Shares Departing Message
The Young & The Restless star Burgess Jenkins made his final appearance as Billy Abbott last week on the hit soap opera. He took to Twitter this week to share a departing message.
Jenkins wrote a simple message to say good-bye, saying, "Farewell GC, thanks for the memories."
Not long after, his co-star Eileen Davidson took to Twitter to express her love and share her well wishes for her former co-star saying "@BurgessJenkins love you Burgess. Wish you well and miss you. You were always a joy to work with. â¤â¤â¤â¤ grateful for the time we had...." The actor quickly responded with this tweet "Thank you Eileen, you were always one of my favorites to work with. Much love and miss you as well. B."
The actor revealed last November that he would be not be resigning his contract. It was a surprising move considering he had only been playing the role since 2014. However after he released his official statement, which you can read below, fans could hardly argue with his reason for leaving the CBS daytime show.
"It's been a terrific time, but after a lot of thought I have made the difficult decision to leave The Young and the Restless. Commuting back and forth from the East Coast where my home and family are based has been challenging. I've had a great ride in Genoa City and I will miss our talented cast and crew tremendously. I would like to thank all of the amazing fans for their support, Jill Farren Phelps and Chuck Pratt for their excellent leadership, and everyone at Sony and CBS for this opportunity."
Although Burgess Jenkins will be missed on The Young & The Restless, fans will soon see a familiar face in the role he vacated. General Hospital fan favorite Jason Thompson, who recently left the ABC soap, has taken over the role and should be seen on screen day down now.
