Rachel Barnes Dead? Justin Bieber 'Girlfriend' in 'Boyfriend' Video Died from Cancer, #RIPRachel Trends on Twitter, Death Hoax After Lil Wayne
Rachel Barnes is not dead. Twitter rumors have it that Justin Bieber's "girlfriend" in his music video for the hit song "Boyfriend" has died from cancer. The actress herself tweeted in response to the horrible death hoax that resulted in #RIPRachel to trend.
A tweet posted on Tuesday night read, “The girl in Boyfriend video by @justinbieber “Rachael Barnes” died because of cancer today. Wish she’s in heaven now, Amen." Plenty of messages of condolences popped up on Twitter as the message spread from Belieber to Belieber.
Barnes proved that she was alive through a message on Instagram that read, "I'm very much alive!"
It's usually the big celebrities such as Adam Sandler, Lil Wayne, Morgan Freeman, and Jerry Springer who get caught up in death hoaxes. This recent story proved that even someone who made just one appearance on Bieber's video can also fall victim to the unfortunate prank.
The most recent death hoax that took over headlines was the one involving famous rapper Lil Wayne. The media, especially TMZ, spread reports about Lil Wayne seizures, coma, drug overdose and last rites. Thankfully, Weezy has been released from the hospital after nearly a week being hospitalized.
