Barry Manilow was reportedly rushed to the hospital after a health scare. The legendary singer reportedly sought medical care after experiencing heart palpitations at his Palm Springs, California home. This isn't the first time that Manilow had dealt with heart issues, but is it really that serious this time?

According to Radar Online, the 72-year-old and his husband, Garry Kief, were "terrified" about the health crisis and the singer was reportedly airlifted to the hospital back in October.

"He feared he was having a heart attack," the site claims.

It was never a secret that Manilow suffers from Atrial Fibrillation (AF), a conditon that causes the individual to have irregular and rapid heartbeat.

People are aware of all the serious consequences of this disease, including permanent heart damage, heart attack, heart failure, stroke and death. But despite his heart condition, Manilow's camp has denied the recent health scare rumors, saying that the icon has never suffered a heart attack.

"Mr. Manilow was not airlifted to Cedars with a heart attack," his rep debunked the rumor but reminded everyone that the singer does have atrial fibrillation, a chronic condition that causes an irregular, racing heart rate.

He went public with his condition in 2011.

The singer first noticed something was wrong about 15 years ago, when he was driving home, "I felt my heart skip a beat," he recalled.

His heart condition did not stop Manilow to do what he loves best––performing. He is currently finishing up his very successful farewell tour called "One Last Time."

Manilow's career skyrocketed when his song "Mandy" topped the charts in 1975.
