Jon Bon Jovi's daughter, Stephanie Bongiovi, ended up in the hospital last year after a heroin overdose. On "Katie", rocker the spilled his feelings on dealing with what he called the "worst phone call ever."

Bongiovi was attending Hamilton College in New York. The 19-year-old's overdose was apparently the first Bon Jovi had heard of his daughter's drug use. The hair metal singer called the moment "a wake up call."

"The problem is much more prevalent than I know," Bon Jovi said on the talk show. "I cannot get over how many people I've met that said that my son or my daughter ... people I love, admire and respect. It happens to all kinds of families."

"There's a lot of pressure on kids these days," he continued. "There's access to things my generation didn't have. I'm just blessed she's healthy and whole, and we'll get through it."

Stephanie is Bon Jovi's oldest child. He has three more with wife Dorothea Hurley, all boys. There's Jesse, 17, Jacob, 10, and Romeo,8.

Stephanie was arrested post-overdose on drug-related charges along with friend Ian Grant, the charges against both of them were dropped under a good Samaritan law on the books in New York.

"People will say she got away with murder because of who she is, but this law was passed so people don't watch somebody die because they're afraid of jail," Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said in an interview with the Daily News.

"And you don't want the person overdosing to say, 'No, don't call,'" he explained.

Stephanie possessed less than 8 oz. of heroin, which allowed the law to apply to her.

Bon Jovi believes his family will recover from the incident.

"People's incredible warm wishes for my family and I have been really reassuring. So, we're good. We're good," the "Livin' on a Prayer" singer told Fox 11 in Los Angeles.
