Liam Payne Denies One Direction Calling it Quits for Good Despite His Solo Career Rumors
One of Liam Payne's recent Instagram posts made the Directioners assume that he is doing a solo project. But despite the rumors that One Direction is disbanding for good, Payne insisted that the popular British-Irish boy band is not splitting up.
"No, no, no, no, no," Payne told TMZ photographers in an ambush interview. "We've just been nominated for two Brits," he added.
According to E! News, the remaining four members of One Direction, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Payne, announced their extended hiatus just days after the group released their new music video for "Drag Me Down."
Us Weekly reported that the band has made their hiatus permanent. A source close to 1D said that, "The 1D thing just ran its course. They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers."
Horan already denied the rumors when he was asked by Entertainment Tonight back in November. He set the record straight about the alleged permanent break-up saying, "We're not breaking up. We're literally taking time out to see our friends and see our family and reflect on what we've done over the last few years."
After Horan, it seems like it's Payne's turn now to deny the rumors. But even though he said that they are not splitting up, he's not planning to just sit on the couch and do nothing all day while One Direction is on an extended hiatus.
The singer's schedule is still pretty busy and he took to social media to steal everybody's heart with his new "little song."
The 22-year-old 1D member debuted a 15-second snippet, which sounded more like an R&B-influenced song compared to the tracks that he has written for his famous band.
Payne sent his followers into a frenzy when he posted the clip with the caption, "Little Song I wrote for fun yesterday."
The black and white video shows Payne up close to the camera, sporting his new Nick Jonas-style buzz cut underneath a hoodie as he mouth the words of his new song. Who knew that he has a talent for rap? He is normally known for his angelic voice and this is a side that nobody has seen from the singer.
Rapper Juicy J has been teasing a collaboration with Payne and they were first spotted in the studio early last year. The rapper even shared a photo of him with the crooner and captioned it, “We working!”
