Lauren Cohan Joins 'The Walking Dead' Costar Jeffrey Dean Morgan In 'Batman v Superman'
It looks like the stars of The Walking Dead are invading the superhero flick Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Just a few months after it was confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will play Bruce Wayne's father in the film, TWD veteran Lauren Cohan has been cast as his onscreen wife.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cohan will portray Martha Wayne, mother to the future Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman. The TWD actress will appear in a tragic flashback scene with Morgan, where the young Bruce Wayne witnesses the murder of his parents in Gotham's Crime Alley. Cohan confirmed the casting news on Twitter by retweeting an IMDb post.
In addition to the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne, Cohan and Morgan may also appear in other flashback scenes that involve Ben Affleck's Batman reminiscing about better days.
Although it may appear that Cohan and Morgan will be seen together on The Walking Dead before BvS, their scenes for the film were actually shot back in 2014. The two actors may have first met on the set of Batman v Superman before Morgan was cast as TWD villain Negan, who is set to antagonize Maggie Greene, her husband Glenn Rhee and the rest of Rick Grimes' group in Season 6.
[COMIC BOOK SPOILERS AHEAD]
Although Cohan may only have a minor role in Batman v Superman, her TWD character could be getting more screen time when the series returns in February. There are speculations that Maggie will finally go head to head with her Hilltop Colony adversary Gregory, who has recently been announced to join the show and will be played by veteran actor Xander Berkeley. In the comic books, the two characters fight over being the leader of the colony as Maggie tries to rally the people of Hilltop into helping the Alexandrians in the war against the Saviors.
The Walking Dead Season 6 returns to AMC on February 14 while Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice premieres on March 25.
