Alexander McQueen Biopic in the Works: Late Designer to be Honored with New Film
Alexander McQueen is one of the most legendary designers to ever grace the fashion industry. From styling some of the most famous entertainers in Hollywood and beyond, McQueen has established himself as a fashion icon. In the last few years, biopics have become a thing and it seems as if fashion's well known talent will be afforded the opportunity to have his story told by filmmakers. Fashion lovers rejoice!
According to Deadline, British director Andrew Haigh will be the man behind the camera shooting the legendary biopic. The director will be using the designer's 2015 biography, Blood Beneath The Skin, as the main source and inspiration for the film. Along with research from screenwriter/playwright Chris Urch, this biopic will be nothing less than amazing.
While many biopics have been subject to a lot of controversy and bad critics, filmmakers are striving for the complete opposite for McQueen's film. The world-renowned designer had a hard time battling his drug addiction for a number of years. Unfortunately the fashion world lost the legend in 2010, when he committed suicide at the age of 40. His reasoning behind his suicide was due to the designer not being able to bear the separation from his mother who passed away.
McQueen's body was found in his Mayfair, London home by his housekeeper Cesar Garcia. It's being reported that production on the film will not start until later this year. The film will most likely make its premiere in 2017.
McQueen was without a doubt a fashion icon. The designer served as the head of Givenchy as well as establishing himself as a fashion powerhouse. Known for his avant-garde style and serving up looks for the great Nicki Minaj and Sarah Jessica Parker, his talent will be forever missed.
