'The X-Files' Revival Spoilers: Twitter Reacts David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson Mulder/Scully!

By popular demand from fans and critics, Fox aired the premiere of their iconic sci-fi/horror series. In the revival of The X-Files, Twitter had lots to say about the return of agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson).

In our recent recap, though they have split apart, Mulder and Scully are reluctantly back together after Tad O'Malley (Joel McHale) provides physical proof of an alien abduction. Initially Scully had her doubts about Sveta (Annet Mahendru), Mulder believes she is the key. Because Roswell was misdirection, Mulder believes humans have been hoarding alien technology for their darker motives. After discrediting Tad to the press, Sveta is killed on the spot by a government-controlled alien ship. Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davies) has come out of hiding after heating The X-Files has been re-opened.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, creator/showrunner Chris Carter explains the inspiration behind the human conspiracy, "The government admits it's spying on us-presumably for our own good, but this is a frightening thing. A lot of people my age recognize that there is a lot of potential for abuse. People give up their privacy so willingly now, believing that if you've got nothing to hide, why not, but without understanding that that could also lead you down the path to injustice, that what you say today could be used against you tomorrow. What you buy today could be used against you tomorrow."
