Chris Christie: “No Residual Damage” from Winter Storm Jonas Floods, South Jersey Disagrees

As New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie continues onward in his attempt to grab the Republican presidential nomination, many are criticizing the hopeful's management of Winter Storm Jonas in his state. In light of those criticisms—which he claims to have not known about and believes them to be untrue—Christie is assuring the public that there is "no residual damage" as a result of flooding in New Jersey. Unfortunately, those at the southern end of the state can't help but disagree.

Much criticism came to Christie as a result of his decision to head to New Hampshire immediately after Jonas in order to continue campaigning. In an interview with MSNBC's Morning Joe, those disapprovals were brought to the governor and quickly shot down...by him.

"I have not heard any of that criticism," he said. "I have not seen any of that criticism, and I think you're just making it up."

The presidential hopeful further noted that there is "no residual flooding damage" to the state, claiming that it all "receded" on Sunday morning after Jonas hit the east coast.

The Huffington Post points out that while the northern end of Jersey found itself with manageable snowfall, those towards the central, southern and shorelines of NJ felt much more of an impact in terms of both snow and floods.

Maggie Day, a resident in South Jersey, reportedly told the Philadelphia Inquirer, "I was in my waders in three feet of water and my friend is saying Gov. Christie is on TV saying it's not that bad." She then invited Christie down to where she is in order to see for himself how bad things are.

Another resident expressed distrust in the governor's flee to New Hampshire, noting that he couldn't label Winter Storm Jonas a "disaster" because the result would be him having to remain in New Jersey, thus taking him off of the campaign trail and lessening his chances for the White House.

"I know he's busy trying to be our vice president and all that, but the Shore really took a pounding."
