24: Legacy Spoilers: Corey Hawkins, Straight Outta Compton Actor, Joins Jack Bauer Spinoff!

The clock will be ticking again as Fox plans a spinoff from their popular 24 franchise. Taking over the reins from ex-CTU agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), Straight Outta Compton actor Corey Hawkins has landed the starring role of 24: Legacy?

As we previously mentioned, Fox is developing a 24 spinoff, which would revolve around a new twenty-something male terrorist hunter. The spinoff will follow the traditional 24 format, each episode represents an hour of a single day. Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as writers and executive producers. Fox will most likely launch the spinoff as a limited series, much like Live Another Day. Sutherland would return in a cameo but would have no involvement in the series.

We also mentioned, Fox has ordered the pilots of Shots Fired and three early drama pilot order, which includes 24: Legacy, Lee Daniels' music coming-of-age project, and Dan Fogelman's baseball-themed Pitch.

According to TV Line, The Walking Dead actor will portray Eric Carter. A strong and smart former Army Ranger, Carter suddenly finds himself pulled back into action. His past comes looking for him in unexpected ways. Eric eventually turns to CTU for help in saving his life. With the clock ticking, Carter has to stop one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Fox co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden teases this new Jack Bauer and CTU, "There's a time jump, a new organization, a completely different story. It's a contemporary story about the potential to activate sleeper cells in the United States. There are nods in the pilot to prior CTU agents, but no ongoing characters."

Though he is currently in talks as executive producer, Keifer Sutherland has no plans to find closure for Live Another Day cliffhanger with the Legacy creators, "Whether we end up working together on it or not, I'll be one of the first people who can't wait to see it. I have every faith they'll do something cool and clever."

The 24 spinoff is currently in its pilot stages.
