'The Wolverine' International Trailer [VIDEO]: Frist Extended Look at New Chapter in 'X-Men' Movie Franchise Expands on Teaser
After this week's teaser trailer release and the "Tweaser" trailer through Vine, we are treated to the full international trailer of the highly anticipated super hero movie, The Wolverine. Director James Mangold (Walk the Line and 3:10 to Yuma) released a 6-second teaser earlier this week on the Twitter video clip application, Vine, which was much more of a tease than the actual 20-second teaser trailer released through MTV. These clips show Hugh Jackman returning to the iconic role, this time in Japan. There is plenty of action and even a cameo appearance by Jean Grey or Phoenix portrayed by Famke Janssen. Luckily, today's official international trailer release expands on the story line and shows even more action. Enjoy!
The official 20th Century Fox plot on the film's IMDB page reads:
"In modern day Japan, Wolverine is out of his depth in an unknown world as he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before."
Just to elaborate on the plot, the trailer shows Wolverine coming into the care of a wealthy Japanese man who was saved by the mutant anti-hero in a World War II atomic bomb blast. To pay him back, he tracks him down and offers to take away his mutant powers, allowing him to live a normal life and eventually die of old age. From there, the movie kicks off, having Wolverine deal with his lack of haling ability, becoming "vulnerable for the first time."
This is clearly not the Wolverine we are used to, which is incredibly enticing to fans. The addition of samurais and the Japanese culture make the film more inviting and rounded. Will Famke Janssen have a bigger role? Who is the girl apparently ripping off her face like some kind of mask? Did we find the antagonist of the film already?
What do you think?
