Abe Vigoda Dead: Twitter Reacts 'Godfather' Actor, Sal Tessio Memoriam, Death At 94
It is with sad news to announce that accomplished actor Abe Vigoda is dead at the age of 94. Twitter had lots to say in their own online memoriam in tribute to the Godfather actor who portrayed hit-man Sal "Fish" Tessio.
According to Variety, the actor's daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, confirmed the passing of her father. saying that The Barney Miller actor died on at home in New Jersey. The High School USA actor is remembered for his memorable role as hulking mob hitman Sal Tessio. Based on the bestselling Mario Puzo novel, Tessio appeared in Francis Ford Coppola's first two Godfather films.
Max Gail described his co-star to Associated Press, "The character of Fish is so complete, so human. Things like going to the bathroom or being tired - simple, human things - Abe finds a kind of poetry in them and people connect with them. He's a wonderful actor."
Back in 1982, People magazine mistakenly noted that "the late" Abe Vigoda did not attend the Barney Miller wrap party. Since then, rumors/reports of his death have circulated many times in the following ears. A website was created just for the sole purpose to indicate whether the actor was dead or alive.
According to TMZ, Vigoda is survived by his daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs. He was previously married to Beatrice Schy from 1968 until 1992, the year she passed away.
