Exodus/Slayer Guitarist Gary Holt Reveals Blood-Painted Guitar by Vincent Castiglia [VIDEO]
Slayer/Exodus guitarist Gary Holt showed off his amazing guitar painted in his own blood by artist Vincent Castiglia at NAMM 2016, revealing they used 19 vials of the guitarist's blood for the work of art.
Vincent presented the custom guitar during NAMM over the weekend, after reportedly withdrawing vials of Holt's blood backstage at a Slayer show in Long Island.
Fans will probably get to see Holt's new blood guitar on Slayer’s upcoming tour with Testament and Carcass.
Blabbermouth reports that Brian Werner, frontman for Vital Remains, suggested the idea of painting a guitar with blood.
Castiglia said, "I thought about the logistics, whether it would be possible or not, and figured hey, if I've been able to take my paintings and medium as far as I have already on canvas, why not do it on a guitar body? After some trial, and some extra preparation, it all worked out perfectly, and this guitar actually became what I'd cite to be one of my favorite, most detailed works to date."
The artist adds, "It was an honor to work so intimately with Gary Holt and ESP on this project, which was literally 'Bonded By Blood.'"

Holt was obviously thrilled with the guitar, stating, "It was very exciting to finally be able to reveal the 'blood guitar' painted with 19 vials of my own blood at this year's NAMM! Looking forward to taking this one-of-a-kind piece of dark art out on tour in February!"
A video was released of Holt performing at the ESP Booth during NAMM 2016.
