Harrison Ford, 'Star Wars: Episode 7': Actor Quiet About Role in J.J. Abrams Sequel, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia? Updates Surrounding New Movie, George Lucas Interview Sparks Rumors
Even though the next installment of Star Wars movies is still a couple years away, rumors have been swirling around the casting in "Star Wars: Episode VII." Ever since Disney bought the film series from Lucasfilm's, there have been a lot of rumors surrounding the new film. There have even been rumors of Carrie Fisher reprising her role of Princess Leia. That's not all though, as there has been speculation surrounding Mark Hammel and Harrison Ford returning to the Star Wars franchise in the J.J. Abrams film.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, J.J. Abrams discussed how he is approaching the film being a huge "Star Wars" fan. "I don't know because we're just getting started," Abrams said. "So it's a great question that I hope I'll have a good answer to when I know what the answer is. There are infinitely more questions than answers right now, but to me, they're not that dissimilar. Though I came at these both from very different places, where they both meet is a place of 'Ooh, that's really exciting.' And even though I was never a Star Trek fan, I felt like there was a version of it that would make me excited, that I would think 'that's cool, that feels right, I actually would want to see that." Abrams didn't reveal much about the upcoming movie, but that has been the status quo for a lot of rumored stars as well.
When asked in a recent interview, how he felt about the "Star Wars" sequel, Harrison Ford didn't say much. "I don't feel anything at the moment yet," said Ford. The legendary actor was very tight lipped when it came to questions about "Star Wars: Episode VII."
However, George Lucas wasn't quite as quiet about the film. What sparked a lot of the rumors was Lucas revealing in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek that three members of the original cast were in negotiations to reprise their roles. That's right, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hammel, and Harrison Ford were mentioned.
For now, fans will just have to go along with the "no news is good news" slogan, until one of the rumored actors speaks up. My guess is the stars of "Star Wars" were told to keep quiet in order to build up anticipation surrounding the movie. However, the news will eventually get out. Just keep checking Mstarz for updates on "Star Wars: Episode VII."
