Karan Johar’s Upcoming Fantasy Film, ‘Shuddhi’ Finally Been Dropped? [WATCH]
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director, Karan Johar's fantasy film, Shuddhi was getting delayed from a long time and now, the reports suggests that the feature film starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt has finally been dropped out of the production.
Johar announced in 2013 that he intends to produce Shuddhi with Salman Khan but according to NDTV Movies, things did not work out at that time between Johar and Khan. After that, Johar officially announced that Dhawan and Bhatt, with whom he earlier worked in Student of the Year, will star in Shuddhi. It was around the same time, when Johar announced that Agneepath director, Karan Malhotra will helm the director's position.
Now there are reports that entire cast and crew are extremely busy with their other commitments. But it looks like, the film has been dropped out for various other reasons. A source close to Johar was quoted by Mid-Day as stating:
"No work has been done on the film. It has gone through many casting changes and every time a new actor came on board, the script had to be reworked to suit their personality. Apart from that, KJo wasn't too confident about handing the directorial baton to Karan Malhotra since the latter's last film (Brothers) didn't do well."
At the very same time, Johar is currently busy with his Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Dhawan is currently busy with the action-romantic, Dishoom. Bhatt is currently preparing for her role in Gauri Shinde's next untitled project with Shah Rukh Khan. There were reports that Dhawan will start preparing for Shuddhi after he will complete shooting Dishoom with John Abraham. But now as the project has been shelved. Dhawan is focusing on singing onto to do other feature films.
"Varun, who had stopped signing films to focus on Shuddhi, is now scouring for challenging scripts, indicating that the film has been shelved. He is now busy with other projects - his brother Rohit Dhawan's Dishoom to be followed by a gangster flick. Alia, too, will shortly begin shooting with Shah Rukh Khan for Gauri Shinde's next," the source further added.
