Taylor Swift, 'New Girl' [VIDEO]: '22' Singer Takes 'Red' Tour Break for Cameo on Zooey Deschanel Comedy Season 2 Finale Episode, 'Downton Abbey Christmas Special'

"I Knew You Were Trouble" singer Taylor Swift is set to guest star in the FOX comedy "New Girl" opposite Zooey Deschanel for the show's second season finale. The episode (which is titled "Downton Abbey Christmas Special") will air on May 14 and will focus on the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha). Swift is set to play Elaine, an "important guest" at the wedding. This guest appearance will be filmed next week as the 23-year-old continues her very successful "Red" tour. Taylor has done some acting before, like when she hosted an episode of "Saturday Night Live," guest-starred in an episode of "CSI," and her performance in the romantic comedy movie Valentine's Day opposite then-boyfriend Taylor Lautner.

Sources are reporting that Swift "important" role is actually Shivrang's ex-girlfriend, hoping to stop the wedding between him and Cece.  Was this a deliberate typecast?

Swift has already been on the "New Girl" in a few episodes. Well, her name has been said a couple of times. In one episode, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) sent Cece a text in which he said he was going through a "Taylor Swift-like range of emotions." Here is a clip of that exchange:

In another episode, Nick (Jake Johnson) tried to cheer up a sulking Jess (Zooey Deschanel) while she moaned, "I just wanted to listen to Taylor Swift alone," as Swift's song "22" played in the background.
