It's not easy to be a vigilante, as Elodie Yung learned when she was trying out for a major role in the Netflix series Daredevil. The French actress admitted that she had to go through several auditions before she found out she was being screened to portray Marvel character Elektra Natchios, who is set to get Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock into a lot of trouble!

Yung spoke to Collider, where she confirmed that it took a long time before she realized she was auditioning for Elektra.

"After I had five or six rounds of auditions," Yung admitted before adding a few details about the experience.

"I had two great scenes to read. I didn't even know it was for Daredevil. Everything is so top secret. So, I just had two great scenes to prepare for the audition, and I was very excited just to go in the room and do that. And then, I had to meet them, over and over and over again. Every time, they would give me notes and I would learn a little bit more about who this girl was without knowing it was for Elektra," she said.

But how exactly did Yung go about with her auditions? The actress revealed that Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb urged her to find her inner bad girl.

"I wouldn't say that I'm nice, but I'm nicer than Elektra, so I wanted to know what they wanted. Jeph was like, 'No, she's not a nice girl. Just keep the nice girl in the closet,'" she said.

That doesn't mean she's a straight-out villain. We had previously reported on Yung calling Elektra "a sociopath" who does things her way.

In the end, Yung eventually realized what she was auditioning for when Cox came in.

"At the last audition with Charlie, I knew it was for Elektra," she said.

Although Yung was a huge fan of the TV show, she admitted that she didn't know much about Elektra and decided to do some research about her character.

"They asked me if I knew Elektra and the comics, and I was like, 'No, not really.' You have to be honest," Yung said. "So, I started discovering this amazing world. I found a really old copy of Elektra: Assassin, which was the first thing that I read. When you read the first issue, you don't understand anything. It is very complex and very dark. I was excited."

See Yung as Elektra when the second season of Daredevil airs on Netflix on March 18.
