Lil Wayne Epilepsy: Coma, Death Scare UPDATE: Rapper Admits Stress and Chronic Neurological Disorder caused Seizures, 'I Could've Died'
Earlier this month, popular Young Money rapper Lil Wayne was hospitalized after experiencing a bout of severe seizures. Rumors started circulating on the web that Weezy had fallen into a critical state of medically-induced coma, and that he was on the verge of death thanks to his "addiction" to Sizzurp (a dangerous concoction made of flavored soda and Codeine syrup). But it turns out that Wayne is prone to seizures because he actually has epilepsy. Things got so bad during this specific episode, that the "Love Me" crooner admits that there was a chance he could've died. Add on stress and overworking himself, Wayne's health simply deteriorated. But thinks are a lot better now and Weezy is in full recovery mode - he just released the highly-anticipated follow-up album to "I'm Not a Human Being" on Tuesday (March 26), entitled "I'm Not a Human Being II).
In a recent interview with radio's Power 108 (via Rap-Up.com), Wayne reveals:
"This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures, ya'll just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could've died, so that is why it was so serious."
Epilepsy is a common and diverse set of chronic neurological disorders characterized by seizures.
For those fans still unaware, Weezy spent several days at L.A's Cedars-Sinai hospital (including a stint in the intensive care unit) after suffering such intense seizures. Read more on the full story here:

Wayne may be an epileptic, but he believes the seizures were mainly brought about by stress and overworking. He claims that the "the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself. That's just typical me though."

And how about all that shady media coverage, insisting that Wayne was in a coma and on the verge of death (hmm, TMZ...)? As Weezy puts it, "That's what they do. I can't be upset at that. I get upset at my kids when they do things that I tell them not to do. I can't be upset at TMZ for doing what they do. They gon' probably come out tomorrow and say something else about somebody else that ain't true."
For now, Wayne is refocusing on this music career... he just announced the dates for this summer's "America's Most Wanted" tour, also featuring performances by T.I. and Future.
