Eminem & 50 Cent Inspire 'Not Guilty' Murder? Dragos Nica 'Avenged Death' Insanity Stabbing

Back in November 2013, Romania native Dragos Nica allegedly stabbed and murdered his neighbor's father, Michael Gannon. But what does that have anything to do with rappers Eminem and 50 Cent?

Accused of murder, Nica ultimately pleaded "not guilty" by reason of insanity. Earlier this month during the three-day trial (February 2016), a psychiatrist defending Nica presented the jury with a rather bizarre scenerio.

Apparently, 31-year-old Nica believed that Gannon's daughter had recently poisoned him during a very brief romantic relationship. On the day of Gannon's actual death (while babysitting his grandchild), Nica began hallucinating after consuming cannabis. He believed that this "poison" was still pulsating in his arm. Nica felt that he was about to die and started pleading with the infamous "Rap God" and Fifty to "avenge his death." He tehn proceeded to go next door and kill the elder Gannon in Mourne Park (Skerries, Dublin).

According to the unidentified psychiatrist (via 98fm), Nica suffers from chronic paranoid schizophrenia. When attacking Gannon, he experienced a severe psychosis partially driven by drug use a change in medication.

After 45 minutes of deliberation, the jury (consisting of 12 individuals) delivered an unanimous verdict of "not guilty by reason of insanity." According to defending counsel Jonathan Kilfeather:

"Since this has happened, [Mr Nica] has been kept in a locked unit. The diagnosis hasn't changed - the treatment hasn't changed - as far as they are concerned he is still ill."

Counsel for the prosecution Patrick Treacy also said on Wednesday (February 3):

"Nobody is in anyway trying to downplay [what happened]. However, two psychiatrists agree with each other that at the time the stabbing of Mr Gannon took place, Mr Nica was suffering from an acute psychosis of schizophrenia," he said.

Justice Tony Hunt ordered Nica to in-patient care at Central Mental Hospital. He will appear in court again on Tuesday (February 15) following examination by a medical officer.
