Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special [PHOTO]: David Tennant and Billy Piper Return in Iconic Roles for Half-Century Celebration, John Hurt Too! Filming This Week!
The 'Doctor Who' 50th Anniversary Special just got a whole lot more exciting despite being a highly anticipated milestone in the minds of Whovians around the world. This morning the show announced that the current Doctor, Matt Smith, and his companion Clara, Jenna-Louise Coleman, will be joined by the previous Doctor, David Tennant, and his previous companion Rose Tyler, Billie Piper. Also, legendary actor John Hurt is set to appear in the special as well. Number 10 and number 11 together in the same episode? Did the Internet explode yet?
The last time we saw David Tennant as the Doctor was in January 2010's episode entitled "The End of Time," which also featured Piper in the role of Raose Tyler. The relationship between Rose and the Doctor was the arguably most romantic of the companions throughout the history of "Doctor Who." The Doctor's last gift to Rose was a doppelganger version of himself who would live out his life at a normal rate as opposed to that of a Time Lord. Perhaps that is how we will see them in the 50th Anniversary Special?
The current Doctor, Matt Smith, has mentioned Rose before, so it will be very interesting to see how 11 interacts with her. Adding the recent loss of Amy Pond and Rory Williams into the mix will surely add up for an emotional special. Plus John Hurt will most likely make for a great character.
