Kristin Davis just can't escape Sex and the City. The actress, who starred as Charlotte on the hit show, appeared on an Australian talk show this week to discuss her humanitarian work. Davis hardly got to talk about her work with refugees when the hosts urged Davis to do an awkward reenactment of a scene from the show, prompting fans to attack the program on Twitter.

Since Sex and the City ended in 2004, Davis has devoted much of her time to humanitarian work. She is an ambassador of Oxfam, as well as a supporter of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She has also spent a lot of time with refugees in several African countries.

She is currently Down Under to meet with Australian government officials and be a keynote speaker, addressing her current work with the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a part of her visit, she agreed to appear on the talk show.

In the segment, the hosts of the show reportedly ask Davis a few questions about her work, and then coerces her into doing the skit with them, complete with bad wigs and a gaggle of giggles from the ladies of the show. Davis plays along, although it's clearly awkward for her, and even offers up a small objection, politely saying, "I don't know that this is a great idea, frankly."

Later, Davis didn't instantly take her displeasure to Twitter, instead opting to retweet some fans' tweets about the show. One person said, "Just wow. That was the worst piece of TV I've ever seen. Kristin, you and your charity work is great. Shame Sunrise."

Another tweeted, "I'm still cringing from that embarrassing segment. That was disrespectful. Bless you and your work, Kristin."

Eventually, though, the actress responded to one of the fans and said, "Thank you so much. Hopefully someone will let me talk about refugees."

The criticism eventually reached the show, who offered up an apology to the actress. In a statement to Mashable that completely missed the point, Sunrise's executive producer said, "We are Sex And The City tragics at Sunrise. Our obsession may have gotten the better of us. We apologize for the bad acting and terrible costumes and we thank Kristin for being such a good sport."

The actress has not made further comment on the matter.
