The X-Files: Season 11 #7 Review: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson's Mulder/Scully 'Endgames!'

IDW Publishing continues to fight the future with The X-Files: Season 11 #7. FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) will learn what Gibson's Endgames [Part 2] are in writer Joe Harris and artist Matthew Dow Smith's penultimate installment.

As we previously mentioned, Mulder continues to run away from the law as a wanted fugitive, dodging authorities wherever they may be hiding. After being cleared from all charges, the government continues to keep a close eye on Scully, especially by the all-powerful Gibson Praise. With Gibson controlling the investigative duo like puppets, how long will it take before everyone becomes under his possession?

During the last installment, Mulder had a frightening glimpse of the apocalyptic "future." Mulder found himself wandering around the fiery destruction of Washington D.C. Surrounded by abandoned buildings and collapsed bridges, Mulder had failed to stop Gibson's reign of terror. But was Mulder actually hallucinating? Or is this how the story arc, Endgames, really concludes?

Writer Joe Harris keeps readers riveted as Mulder searches for the whereabouts of his missing partner. Keeping the suspense going, Scully has her own solo tale, which becomes a nail-biting cat-and-mouse game. Harris leaves readers with a major cliffhanger, teasing a confrontation that's been a long time coming.

Artist Matthew Dow Smith knocks it out of the park with his action-packed opening pages. The Faceless Ones make their presence known and it is really scary. Smith does something interesting with their character design, splitting the face in two. Notice how the split starts from the forehead to chin, as if to say they're "cracked in the head."
