Mekhi Phifer Marries Reshelet Barnes: 'Paid In Full' and 'ER' Star Weds Longtime Girlfriend in Easter Weekend Ceremony

38-year-old actor Mekhi Phifer just married his longtime girlfriend, Reshelet Barnes, in an Easter weekend ceremony yesterday. On Saturday, the two entertained about 100 guests at their reportedly "stunning" wedding at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The couple both wore white for the ceremony, which apparently lasted 15 minutes but left an impression on the guests and the couple.

Mekhi walked out to Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky," while Barnes went with the traditional "Here Comes the Bride." According to a wedding guest's account of the ceremony to E! News:

"When she made her entrance into the courtyard, Mekhi was completely overcome with emotion and you could tell she took his breath away. He had to wipe tears from his eyes for several minutes."

Mekhi and Reshelet stood under an arch of yellow flowers and they exchanged rings and performed a unity sand ceremony, which involves the bride and groom each pouring a different-colored sand into the same container, simultaneously. This symbolizes the hopes of marriage; "that it will last as long as it would take to separate the grains of sand once again." The ceremony might have been brief, but it was it ended with a standing ovation. Also, television's Judge Greg Mathis officiated the ceremony.

Mekhi Phifer is known for his roles in such films as O, 8 Mile, Honey, Paid In Full, and Soul Food. He also portrayed Dr. Greg Pratt on "E.R." Phifer was previously married to Soul Food co-star Malinda Williams, with whom he shares a son, Omikaye. The two divorced in 2003 and Phifer had another son, Mekhi Jr., with Oni Souratha in 2007.
