Duncan Jones, the son of rock and roll legend David Bowie and a talented film director on his own right, is about to become a father, announcing it to the world on the one-month death anniversary of his "Starman" dad. In a beautiful Twitter post, the filmmaker revealed he and wife Rodene Ronquillo are expecting their first baby together.

According to The Independent, the filmmaker took to his Twitter, the same medium he used to confirm Bowie's death, to reveal how he'd told his father that he was going to become a grandfather. In a sweet card, Jones drew a baby inside the womb and gave it to his father for Christmas.

Us Weekly reports that Jones' wife, photographer Rodene, also took to the social network to share the happy news.

"Shame on those of you who just thought I was really fat and didn't say anything. HAHA. ;)," she tweeted.

Long before Bowie had been diagnosed with the cancer that would ultimately kill him, Jones had gone through a heavy period due to the illness: doctors found a tumor on Rodene, and she bravely overcame stage 2 breast cancer.

In all, it turns out that Bowie was about to become a grandfather for the first time and found out weeks before his passing. The rock star's death was a bittersweet shock to fans all over the world, as he kept his battle with cancer a secret up until his passing; having released an album, Blackstar, just two days before his January 10 death.

Unbeknownst to fans, Bowie's last album had been planned as a farewell one, as for months he had known he was going through his last days on Earth. Songs like "Lazarus" made much more sense right after the announcement of Bowie's death but, as his son say: it's "the circle of life."
