Anthony Mackie Says 'Captain America: Civil War' Is Better Than 'The Winter Soldier'
There is a lot of excitement over the Marvel flick Captain America: Civil War and early screenings of the film have already received positive response. Now Civil War star Anthony Mackie wants you to know that the movie "is even better" than Captain America: The Winter Soldier!
Mackie recently spoke to IGN, where he explained that Civil War stands out for being the best Marvel Cinematic Universe film so far.
"It'll be very different because... I feel the best Marvel movies thus far have been Winter Soldier and Iron Man and I think this movie far surpasses those two movies," Mackie said before praising directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
"I think the Russo brothers and Marvel have done a very good job with upping the ante every movie and this one definitely does not fail to live up to that," he said.
Falcon might be a part of Team Captain America in Civil War, but Mackie is actually more excited about working with Tony Stark than anybody else in the film. The Triple 9 star revealed that the best part of being a part of the new Avengers lineup is being buddies with Iron Man.
"It's dope man - I get to hang out with Robert Downey Jr.," he said. "I love it. I love it. I get to eat lunch with him. And talk to him. And crack jokes with him. And he gives me his old clothes so it's awesome."
Mackie has always been eager to share just how awesome Civil War is going to be. In an interview with Empire, the actor couldn't stop gushing about the film.
"The build-up to the fight is what makes it so interesting, because there are so many different factions of who's right and who's wrong and who supports who," he said. "Once we get all of that out the way, then it becomes more action-packed and more of us kicking each other's a--."
Captain America: Civil War will premiere on May 6.
