Matthew Vaughn's “Kingsman 2' Looking At Julianne Moore To Replace Samuel L. Jackson Villain?
As it was earlier confirmed that there is indeed a Kingsman 2, looks like the film now is in search for a perfect villain, someone who can fill Kingsman: The Secret Service's villain Richmond Valentine's (Samuel L. Jackson) shoe. And apparently, the film has already set eyes on the Academy Award winner Julianne Moore for the role.
There is still no confirmation what particular role Moore would play if she will join The Kingsman 2. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, Moore is in talks to play the villain in The Kingsman 2 that would be directed by Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick-Ass, Stardust).
According to lead actor Taron Egerton, who is coming back to reprise his role as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, this sequels' villain is totally awesome. The actor said, "With Kingsman [2], we're shooting in the summer at present. There's a script, it's brilliant. Obviously, there's only so much I can say but what I can say is that we shot [the first] one all in the U.K., that won't be the case with the next one. It's a far more international story, we're going to some incredible places, and we have a villain to rival Samuel L. Jackson-this new one is so brilliantly written I wish I could play it. It's amazing." he told Collider at Sundance.
Surely, talented actress Moore wouldn't have trouble playing as a villain if the script is really awesome. However, there is no news of the actress responding to the invitation yet. Recently, the actress is keeping herself busy with a lot of projects. She's part of Todd Haynes' adaptation of Wonderstruck and of George Clooney's Suburbicon. These projects are all under pre-production just like Kingsman 2.
The critic wonders what the actress would do if she'll accept the role in Kingsman 2 since she has two other projects that would probably shoot the same time as Kingsman 2 would.
Kingsman 2 is tentatively slated to be released June 16, 2017.
