The 'Ghostbusters' Main Villain Is Finally Revealed Plus Its Action Figure! Get Details Here
As we are just months away from seeing the Ghostbusters reboot, we still haven't had any idea as to who and what the new baddie in town would look like until Mattel revealed and displayed toys and merchandise from Paul Feig's new movie at New York Toy Fair.
Among the merchandise is the familiar ghost in the logo of the previous Ghostbusters. Apparently, this guy is the new main villain for the reboot, and his name is Rowan. Check out PixelDan's Instagram photo below.
Unfortunately, nothing more about Rowan was revealed aside from the photo, his name and his action figure. Although there is a rumor about Neil Casey (Other Space) playing Rowan, there's no confirmation yet so this will remain a rumor until verified.
Moreover, it was also disclosed that Rowan's figure is not for sale. Well, it kinda is. However, for you to actually have a Rowan figure, you need to buy and complete all four Ghostbusters figures that make up the new ghost-busting team. Since Rowan will be divided into four parts, each part will be included in each figure you buy.
Now if we think about Rowan, he really looks like the ghost on Ghostbuster's logo with the addition of a bow tie. It's quite a mystery as to why they chose to pattern Rowan to the logo.
Maybe the first nemesis this new team would defeat in the reboot would be Rowan, and as the sign of their first ever triumph, they decided to use him as part of the logo. Then at the end of the movie, Rowan would somehow come back and there would be an epic final battle. I'm just guessing here, though.
A ghost named Mayhem was also revealed in the toy table together with other small ghosts.
The reboot will be released on July 15, 2016 with the new cast (Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Charles Dance, Michael Kenneth Williams and Chris Hemsworth) under the direction of Paul Feig.
