'Wonder Woman' Casts Diana Prince's Best Friend: Lucy Davis to Play Etta Candy

After she first appears on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice later this year, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is getting her own film, set for a 2017 release. The movie, currently shooting in London, has apparently added a new cast member weeks into production: British actress Lucy Davis, from Shaun of the Dead, will be playing Etta Candy, Diana Prince's best friend from DC Comics!

According to Yahoo! Movies, Davis, who's most famous in her native country for playing Dawn in the original The Office, was caught on cameras during the recent Wonder Woman shoot.

Filming was taking place in London's iconic Trafalgar Square, where the 43-year-old actress looked positively unrecognizable as Diana Prince's best pal.

The entire square was shut down last Sunday for the shoot. As it has been previously reported, at least part of the film will be set around World War I, and the scenes being shot in London last weekend were set on Armistice Day, 1918, when the Great War came to an end. Metro reports that both Gadot and Davis were caught during the shoot wearing period costumes, and the British actress was also wearing a redhead wig. Interestingly enough, so far, Davis' role hasn't been confirmed, but her outfit certainly looks a lot like how Etta is depicted in the comics. In the DC Universe, Etta Candy is Wonder Woman's best friend and has been since the early 1940's, after the Amazon princess saved her life. Often portrayed as a sidekick of sorts, Etta has also served as Steve Trevor's love interest on occasion, but it's unclear whether they'll be going down this road on the film. As Movie Web reports, it has been said that the 2017 Wonder Woman film will take place during three different time periods, including WWI. Aside from Gadot, other confirmed cast members include Chris Pine as Steve Trevor and Connie Nielsen as Diana's mother.
