Taylor Swift, Mystery Arrow Hits Fan Nadine [VIDEO]: 'Red' Singer Sends Injured 8-Year-Old Care Package After Field Trip Crossbow Incident
8-year-old Nadine of San Rafael, California, was on a class field trip at the Lawrence Hall of Science last week when a mysterious arrow came out of nowhere and hit the students in the left leg. Nadine had been climbing on a large whale sculpture when she was shot. According to reports and Nadine herself, in order to calm herself in the ambulance she sang Taylor Swift's song "Sparks Fly." After hearing about Nadine's story, the 23-year-old singer sent her fan a care package.
According to police Captain Stephen Roderick, "She was just climbing on the whale when, out of nowhere, an arrow went through her left leg." Nadine actually claims that she "saved the whale" when the arrow hit her.
Nadine was quickly taken to the hospital where the arrow was removed. "She's a trooper," Roderick said. "Her mother is with her and she's doing fine." The investigation has hit a snag, however since "an arrow can travel 500 to 1,000 yards," Roderick said. Though the search still continues for the culprit.
"Oh my gosh, I was singing 'Sparks Fly' in the ambulance with the arrow in my leg," recalled Nadine.
Word got around and Taylor Swift got wind of Nadine's tale. As a special gift to her fan, Taylor sent the arrow victim a care package, which arrived yesterday. Inside was a backpack as well as other Talyor Swift-themed items.
"It takes the pain away a lot," said Nadine, who sends a warm "Thanks!" back to Swift.
The whole experience has been a little strange for Nadine, who is still in a lot of pain after the arrow removal, but she has been getting a lot of attention. She has even been signing some autographs!
Even on Twitter, #BraveNadine has been making the rounds as tweets talk about the young girl's arrow incident.
