'American Idol' Recap: Last Night's Top 7, Tuesday Night Performances, Lazaro Arbos Forgets Words for Second Time on Season 12, Nicki Minaj Calls Him Out On It [VIDEO]
Last night on FOX's "American Idol" the final seven contestants had to sing rock songs. This would prove to be out of a lot of the singer's comfort zones, but the usual suspects like Amber Holcomb, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, and Angie Miller all put on the best performances of the night. Nicki Minaj once again criticized the male contestants who just aren't up to par on season 12.
Amber Holcomb had probably the best performance of the night with her rendition of Heart's "What About Love." She even got another comparison to the late, great Whitney Houston. This time Randy Jackson was the judge throwing out the lofty comparisons.
Kree Harrison performed Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" to rave reviews from the judges, including an "in it to win it" from Randy Jackson. Country singer Janelle Arthur held her own in the rock category with Billy Joel's "You May Be Right." This was a great performance and needed in order for her to hold her own with the other female contestants. Candice Glover performed the Rolling Stone's "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." It was another good performance from the "Idol" front runner.
Meanwhile, it was another so-so night for the remaining male contestants Burnell Taylor and Lazaro Arbos. Taylor didn't give a very good performance and looked uncomfortable singing Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name." Meanwhile, Arbos actually did a pretty good job with Queen's "We Are the Champions." Unfortunately, earlier in the night he forgot the words again while singing a duet with Angie Miller and Nicki Minaj was kind enough to point that out in an awkward exchange.
Speaking of the piano playing Miller, she finished up the night with Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" with another great performance, further solidifying her status as a front runner among the final seven.
Once again the two weakest performers of the night were Burnell Taylor and Lazaro Arbos. It looks like a good bet one of them will be sent home. Arbos forgot the words to a song again, which seems like a pretty big issue, but will fans continue to vote for him as the shows underdog? "American Idol" is back on Wednesday night with the results show, where we find out who gets eliminated. Who do you think will be sent home Wednesday night?
