George Clooney vs Donald Trump Beef: Billionaire GOP Nominee Is "Insane" with "Fascist" Theory

George Clooney's generally appealing charm isn't about to stop him from speaking out about the hot topics. The famously liberal actor, director and screenwriter tackled one of the most controversial ones in the past year, Donald Trump. For the Ocean's Eleven star, the billionaire turned GOP primaries frontrunner is a true threat, calling him "insane" and his politics "fascist theory."

Clooney, currently promoting Hail, Caesar, his latest project with brothers Ethan and Joel Coen, recently sat down with The Telegraph to talk about his career and politics. The very socially aware actor, who has famously advocated towards international causes like the resolution of the Darfur conflict, understandably has very strong opinions about the current election cycle in his native country.

"This is an election cycle and we tend to go through some craziness," Clooney said, regarding Trump's current bid for the White House. "The idea that this xenophobic, fascist theory that we are going to ban Muslims from our country or we are going to kick 12 million Mexicans back down to the border and build a wall they are going to pay for -- none of that is ever going to happen."

Continuing on this line of thought, Clooney seemed convinced that the U.S. "isn't going to do that," saying that the "chatter" regarding this kind of topics will disappear in a few months, giving room to the "issues that really matter."

For months, the same has been said time and again regarding Trump, but the former Celebrity Apprentice host continues to lead the race for the Republican Party's nomination.

The Independent reports that this isn't the first time Clooney dismisses Trump. Months back, at the Toronto Film Festival, the Oscar winner addressed the candidate's infamous anti-Mexican comments, when he called immigrants from the Southern border "rapists" and "criminals." At the time, Clooney simply said it was "idiotic" and that history would laugh at Trump in the future.
