During a speech at a Democratic National Committee fundraising lunch in Atherton, California on Thursday, President Barack Obama complimented 48-year-old Attorney General Kamala Harris as being "by far, the best-looking" lawmaker he has ever seen. Obama's comments brought about some smirks, laughs, and raised-eyebrows, and his "sexy" shout-out to Harris soon went viral on the web. So how about it, Mstars readers... does the country agree? Is Kamala Harris indeed the best-looking Attorney General in the USA?
During the fundraiser, Obama spoke about the need to address climate change and energy challenges among other nationwide issues. Following his speech, the Prez gave his little shout-out to Harris. According to the pool report, apparently Obama noted more than just a few times that "she is, objectively, easy on the eyes."
"She's brilliant and she's dedicated, she's tough," Obama exclaimed. "She also happens to be, by far, the best-looking attorney general ... It's true! C'mon."
While several fans (both liberal and conservative) took to Twitter to blast Obama's remarks as "unsettling," "disgraceful" and "disrespectful," many other individuals merely thought his comments amusing. The crowd allegedly took it in good humor, laughing at the President's praise of Harris.
Ms Harris is a Democratic favorite and a trailblazer in her home state who campaigned for Obama in 2012. Not only is she the first Indian American attorney general in the country, but rumors have it that she may be in the running to replace 80-year-old Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who's expected to depart the bench some time during Obama's second term. Harris was once in a serious relationship with former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown.
