Daisy Ridley Talks Rey In 'Star Wars Episode VIII,' Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker "Is So Cool"
There is much excitement surrounding Star Wars Episode VIII after it has been confirmed that the sequel to The Force Awakens has already begun pre-production. However, there is no one more excited about the film than its star Daisy Ridley, who will reprise her role as Rey! Ridley has just admitted that she is already working with Mark Hamill on Episode VIII, and she wants you to know that Luke Skywalker will play a major role in the film!
Ridley recently attended the Academy Awards, where she spoke to MTV at the red carpet. The young actress shared a few details about her experience in Skellig Michael with the Star Wars veteran.
"Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it's really amazing," Ridley said. "When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people."
Ridley also admitted that she enjoyed working with Hamill.
"He's amazing to rehearse with, and I'm very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff," Ridley said, adding that she was blown away by the script.
"It's such a good story. Seriously," she said. "Luke is so cool in this one. Really."
Luke's appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was undeniably short, but the final scene certainly suggested that there will be more of the Last Jedi in Episode VIII. There are speculations that much of the film will focus on Rey's training with Luke, who will help her prepare for another fight against the more powerful Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
Star Wars Episode VIII was officially announced to start principal photography last month with a brief look at the opening scene. The film is directed by Rian Johnson and will also feature John Boyega as Finn and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron. Episode VIII is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.
