Heading into the end of Week 1 of the MLB 2013 season, ESPN predicts the season outlook team power rankings. The Yankees head into Friday's game at the no. 16 spot - "A postseason without the Yankees? If it does happen, it will be only the second time since 1993 that the Bombers don't reach the playoffs."

The Yanks are currently 1-2 having played the Boston Red Sox earlier this week.

The Tigers snag the no 2 overall spot (out of 30 teams). According to sports columnist Joshua Ward, "There's no such thing as an underdog in Detroit anymore, not where the Tigers are concerned. In 2013, they have the fifth-highest payroll in baseball, at a shade over $149 million, and have $77 million of that committed to only four players (Justin Verlander, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and Victor Martinez)."

Detroit heads into the series against NY with one win and two losses against the Minnesota Twins.
