Joey Feek Dead at 40 from Cervical Cancer, Husband Rory Lee Confirms
Country singer Joey Feek has died at the age of 40 after battling with stage 4 cervical cancer.
According to Fox News, the singer's husband Rory Lee Feek confirmed the said news in a new blog on Friday.
"My wife's greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven," Rory Feek stated on his blog he titled, A Dream Come True. "The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior."
As Joey took her final breathes, Rory posted a photo of his eldest daughter holding his wife's hand. "Our oldest daughter Heidi by her mama's side last night. Holding on and letting go," he wrote in the post below.
MStars News previously reported that Joey enjoyed her daughter Indiana's second birthday a few weeks ago. At that time Joey had become weaker as her body started to shut down.
"Not long after Indy's birthday my wife decided that 'enough is enough'. She was ready to stop fighting and she told me so. She said the flowers would soon be blooming back in Tennessee. It's time to go home." Rory previously wrote. "My wife has been asleep for days now and her body is shutting down quickly. The hospice nurse came again this morning and said Joey will most-likely only be with us for a few more days... at the most."
After learning that there was nothing else that doctors could do, Joey decided to end treatments last November and move her family back to her hometown of Alexandria, Indiana where she lived out her final days in hospice.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Feek family during this difficult time.
