NBC's Cruel Intentions sequel is moving forward after casting its new Reese Witherspoon, and original film star Sarah Michelle Gellar is already preparing mentally for the role -- and her hair's officially back in action, too! Gellar has taken to Instagram to post her latest makeover, as she goes back to her brunette roots to play Kathryn Merteuil in the series.

Over the past couple of days, as cameras roll on the set of the Cruel Intentions pilot, Gellar has shared a few snaps of her new look on the social network. She's gone back to the hair color she had back when the film came out.

A natural brunette, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress has gone progressively lighter over the past decade or so, though she goes back to her brown locks occasionally, this time to get in the mood of one of her most iconic characters.

In the latest picture from the set, the 38-year-old actress showed the world a sneak peek of her look for Cruel Intentions, as she sat in front of a mirror during make-up, inside what appears to be her trailer during the shoot.

The new series will star Gellar reprising her role as Kathryn, the spoiled heiress, in a story set over 15 years after the events of the original film. In the pilot, she tries to take control of the family company as well as Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith), the son of her stepbrother Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Witherspoon in the film, Kate Levering in the show).

If the pilot were picked up for series, it would be Gellar's third main role in a TV show since Buffy ended in 2003. In the past few years, the actress has starred in Ringer and The Crazy Ones, the latter of which is most famous for being Robin Williams' last television role before his death.
