J. Cole News [VIDEO]: 'Born Sinner' Album Release Date, 'Power Trip' Video With Miguel, And More
The creative words-smith J.Cole is back with his sophomore album “Born Sinner.” The Roc Nation rapper, is having a busy week; the video for his smash hit “Power Trip” featuring Miguel aired Tuesday April 9 on MTV, and he announced “Born Sinner” release date hours after the video debuted.
In the past the North Carolina born rapper, prematurely announced the album release date. He originally told fans that “Born Sinner” would be released early 2013, but he clarified the snafu with MTV.
"They were cool with it, like 'Whatever you wanna do'," "Really that was a bad move. We decided that we got everybody playing on the same team and the same frequency. This is the sophomore album let's not f--- around," the Fayetteville, North Carolina, MC told MTV News during a sit-down on February 16 in Houston. "Let's really roll this out right, get the proper single, get the proper videos, proper brands. There are certain things that you can line up to make an album feel bigger."
The proper video and brands are part of J.Cole’s new marketing tactics. He chatted with Billboard at the 2012 American Music Awards. According to Billboard, Cole said that he's eyeing different branding opportunities to coincide with the album, as well as a short film -- "something way more expansive than a music video."
