Paul McCartney Richest Brit Musician: As 2013 US Tour Approaches, Macca Said to Be Worth Over $1 Billion

Turns out owning the rights to some of the most popular music of all time can be quite beneficial. Paul McCartney once again topped the Sunday Times Rich List with a 680 million-pound fortune (that's $1.05 billion dollars in American money). It seems Paul McCartney, who kicks off a 2013 US tour in Orlando, FL on May 18, really is doing it for the love of it. He certainly doesn't need the cash.

McCartney has topped the annually compiled list every year since its inception in 1989. Macca is 60 million pounds richer than his closest competition, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Also in the top 10 was his late bandmate George Harrison's family. Harrison's widow Olivia and child Dhani Harrison were in 9th place with $267 million.

Others in the top 10 included Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, U2, Sir Elton John, Sting, David and Victoria Beckham and Irish dancer Michael Flatley.

The Times also composes an "under 30" version of the list. Adele tops that with an estimated worth of $46 million. A distant second is Cheryl Cole with $21.5 million.

The Rich List draws on public records to determine value of property, stocks, and other assets. These are added together to determine overall wealth.

The musicians ranking will be published this Sunday while a full-scale Rich List will go to print April 21.

For once, one of my favorite Beatles tracks is totally appropriate:

What do you think about the Rich List? Will anyone ever unseat Paul McCartney for the rich Brit throne? What would you do with more than a billion dollars?
