Jay-Z - 'Open Letter': NEW ALBUM TRACK Attacks Critics of 'Cultural Ambassador' Cuba Trip with Beyonce, Lyrics Cover Selling Brooklyn Nets and Sports Management
Right after his controversial anniversary trip to Cuba with Beyonce and right in the middle of some Brooklyn Nets drama, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z decided to drop a new track that addresses all of these issues and more. The song is under two minutes, but it hits on some hard points as Jay-Z rips through politicians and even calls some New Yorkers "dweebs." While some celebrities release press releases or official statements to address hot topics in their lives, Jay-Z does this.
"They wanna give me jail time and a fine -- Fine, let me commit a real crime," Jay-Z retorts in a thinly vailed response to the letters about his Cuba trip from Senator Marco Rubio and Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart.
Jay Carney, the spokesman for the White House, said that the authorization of the Cuba trip was made by the Treasury Department. The Obama Administration has also loosened travel restrictions to Cuba, but that has not stopped complaints from Rubio. In a statement made on Monday by the Florida senator, Marco Rubio said:
"According to recent news reports, Jay-Z and Beyoncé's Cuba trip, which the regime seized on for propaganda purposes, was fully licensed by the Treasury Department. If true, the Obama Administration should explain exactly how trips like these comply with U.S. law and regulations governing travel to Cuba and it should disclose how many more of these trips they have licensed."
"Open Letter" continues with the lines, "Obama said, 'Chill you're going to get me impeached,' You don't need this sh*t anyway, chill with me on the beach."
Recently, Jay-Z has been rumored to be looking into becoming a sports agent. He also reportedly sold his shares of the Brooklyn Nets and made millions of dollars from the sale. In this new track, he does not deny any of these claims and pretty much comes straight out and addresses them. Here is an example of his lyrics:
"I woulda moved the Nets to Brooklyn for free. Except I made millions off you f--king dweebs. I still own the building, I'm still keeping my seats. You buy that bullshit, you better keep your receipts."
