‘Hannibal’ Star Hugh Dancy Joins the Cast of ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ as Dr. John Flynn [WATCH]
Hugh Dancy, who is famous for portraying the role of Will Graham in the television series Hannibal, is the new added member in Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan starrer Fifty Shades Darker. If reports are to be believed then the British actor will be playing the role of Dr. John Flynn in the upcoming erotic thriller sequel of Fifty Shades of Grey.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Dancy is set to play the role of Christian Grey's (played by Doran) psychiatrist, Dr. Flynn. As far as the novels are concerned, Grey started seeing Dr. Flynn when a former lover, Mrs. Elena Lincoln (played by Kim Basinger), reappeared in his life.
Now, playing the role of a psychiatrist won't be a tough job for Dancy, who previously worked in the psychological crime thriller Hannibal on NBC, for which he was nominated for the Critic's Choice Awards.
There have been earlier rumors that the filming of 50 Shades Darker is again delayed for the lack of chemistry between the two leads. According to Fashion & Style, Johnson and Dornan lack the real spark that their respective characters demand and as a result, Director James Foley had to re-shoot several scenes. There were earlier rumors that Dornan will be fired from the Fifty Shades series, but the 33-year-old clarified everything in his interview with Daily Mail.
"They wouldn't have shot the film with us if there was a lackluster chemistry problem ... whatever chemistry means," Dornan shared. "You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a part like this, and they simply wouldn't have cast us."
Fifty Shades Darker is being directed by Foley based on a script penned by Niall Leonard and is slated to release on Feb. 10, 2017. It is also being reported that the third part in the Fifty Shades series, Fifty Shades Freed will be filmed back-to-back with Fifty Shades Darker and will release on Feb. 9, 2018.
