Stan Lee Chooses a Side in 'Captain America: Civil War' - Is Marvel Legend on Team Iron Man?
It's always hard to pick just one favorite superhero, but fans will need to choose whether to root for Chris Evans' Steve Rogers or Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War. Which side will comic book icon Stan Lee be on in the Marvel ensemble movie?
According to ComicBook.com, Lee recently attended the Civil War world premiere in Los Angeles, where he was asked if he was on Team Captain America or Team Iron Man. The legend, who had created the X-Men for Marvel comic books, decided that the best way to choose a side was to flip a coin. So who did he settle on?
"Captain America!" Lee announced. "No doubt about it!"
But why did the Spider-Man creator decide on Steve? Lee revealed that his decision had a lot to do with height.
"Because Chris Evans is about half an inch taller than Robert Downey Jr.," he said with a laugh. "That's as good a reason as any, if you have to have a reason!"
In the end, Lee admitted that he couldn't pick just one team in this war.
"I don't care, I love them both," he said, adding that the viewers will have some difficulty choosing sides as well.
"They're both going to look real good on screen, and the audience is going to have a tough time deciding," Lee declared. "I love them both."
Lee is responsible for the creation of Marvel characters like Thor, Fantastic Four and the Hulk. The comics icon has also appeared in almost every Marvel Cinematic Universe film, including a cameo in Deadpool where he played an MC in a strip joint.
Captain America: Civil War is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and also stars Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Paul Rudd. The film will hit theaters on May 6.
