Debby Ryan: Disney Star Arrested for DUI After Crashing Her Car
Disney Channel star Debby Ryan failed a sobriety test and was arrested for DUI in Los Angeles last week after crashing her car into another vehicle on the highway.
The 22-year-old The Suite Life on Deck and Jessie star was charged with felony DUI after being pulled over in Los Angeles on 1st St. and La Brea Ave., the LAPD said.
Ryan was given a field sobriety test when cops arrived on the scene, reportedly blew a .11 during her breathalyzer test which is just slightly over the legal limit of .08, and that authorities lessened her charge to a misdemeanor since the injury was only minor. She was released on $100,000 bail, but faces charges of driving under the influence and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher.
The Disney star apologized for her actions on Twitter on Wednesday, April 13.
"Over the last few days I have had the chance to think about my actions, and I wish I had used better judgement," Ryan wrote. "I recognize that I am a role model and have always worked hard to set a good example for my millions of fans. I am so sorry to disappoint everyone."
The actress got her start on the Disney Channel series The Suite Life On Deck, a spin-off of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, from 2008-2011. After that, she landed a starring role in the Disney Channel movie 16 Wishes, then became the star of her very own series on the network, Jessie, which ended in 2015.
