'Downton Abbey' Movie Confirmed? Creator Julian Fellowes Teases Script & Shades Cast
It's been only a few months since the ITV/PBS period soap opera Downton Abbey left the small screen, and fans are left to miss the Crawley family and their servants for a long time to come -- or are they? After months of rumors regarding a movie, show creator Julian Fellowes has teased a little about the show's cast -- and Mr. Carson actor Jim Carter is doing his own teasing, too!
Fellowes recently attended British panel show Loose Women to talk about his upcoming projects, and of course, that meant he was also asked whether we'd be seeing more of the Crawleys in the future. During his interview, the Downton creator threw some mild shade at his cast.
"I hope there's going to be a film. It's not me slowing it up. It's difficult rounding up all the actors," said Fellowes. "One is in the West End, another is in America."
In general, the fact that Downton had a pretty large main cast could also prove to be an issue, as it means there's more people to round up for any project involving the better part of the characters.
One of the actors from the show, Carter (who played the stern and traditional butler Mr. Carson) also spoke about the possibility of a movie recently on ITV morning show Lorraine. During his appearance, the actor spilled that he thinks "the script is being worked on" at the moment, saying everyone involved would definitely be into taking Downton to the big screen.
As if Fellowes and Carter's words weren't confirmation enough, The Independent reports that Allen Leech, who gave life to chauffeur turned estate manager Tom Branson on the show, also suggested recently that there could be a silver screen future for the Crawleys, saying there were "possible negotiations with Fellowes at this point.
