Will Sophie Turner's Jean Grey Turn Into Dark Phoenix After 'X-Men: Apocalypse'?
X-Men: Apocalypse hasn't even hit theaters yet, but some people are already looking into the future of mutant films. But what could happen next in Bryan Singer's X-Men movie franchise? It looks like it's going to be about Sophie Turner's young Jean Grey, and how she transforms into Dark Phoenix!
Heroic Hollywood has just reported about the future of the X-Men flicks, citing an unnamed source that revealed that the Game of Thrones actress will have a major role in the next film. According to the source, Apocalypse will be followed by the retelling of The Dark Phoenix Saga, which sees Jean becoming too powerful for the other mutants.
This isn't the first time that Dark Phoenix made an appearance in the movies. X-Men: The Last Stand featured Famke Janssen's version of Jean unleashing her full powers and almost killing Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
But is it possible that Turner's Jean will turn into Dark Phoenix after Apocalypse? Singer has previously hinted on some darkness growing in Jean in the film, which has already led to speculations that Phoenix might make an appearance in Apocalypse. The change in time-lapse in X-Men: Days of Future Past might even offer a possibility for Jean to transform much sooner than she does in The Last Stand.
Although it would be interesting to see how the new X-Men films are going to deal with Dark Phoenix, it is best to take the news with a grain of salt until further details are revealed.
Apocalypse will also introduce new actors as the younger versions of established characters. Goosebumps star Tye Sheridan will play Cyclops while Alexandra Shipp will portray Storm. The film might also be the last X-Men movie featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X and Nicholas Hoult as Beast.
X-Men: Apocalypse premieres on May 24.
