The Driftless Area DVD: Zooey Deschanel, Anton Yelchin, Aubrey Plaza Digital Release Date!

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set the release date for its noir/drama, The Driftless Area. Check out the upcoming DVD and digital release date of the critically acclaimed film starring Zooey Deschanel, Anton Yelchin, and Aubrey Plaza.

According to the plot synopsis, based on the novel from The End of Vandalism author Tom Drury, Pierre (Yelchin) has returned to his hometown to deal with the death of his parents. During his time mourning and grief, Pierre finds himself falling under the spell of the enchanting and mysterious Stella (Deschanel). As his relationship with Stella deepens, Pierre finds himself in a dangerous situation with a volatile criminal (John Hawkes), who abruptly alters the course of Stella's life.

Plaza, Frank Langella, Alia Shawkat and Ciaran Hinds complete the ensemble drama. The pulse-pounding crime dram earned raves as an Official Selection at the Tribeca Film Festival, Aruba International Film Festival and Flyway Film Festival.

The special features include the bonus behind-the-scenes Making The Driftless Area. The cast and crew discuss working on the film, preparing for the characters, and working with first-time director Zachary Sluser.

In an interview with Shockya, Sluser describes working with the Star Trek: Into Darkness actor, "I think he's a unique and an incredibly gifted young actor. He's very empathetic, sweet and likable, and at the same time, very thoughtful and intelligent. As soon as we met and discussed the script, I saw how his mind worked-he's constantly working to better understand and prepare, so I knew he would be the perfect partner."

The Path Lights filmmaker mentions The New Girl, "As soon as we sat down and discussed the script, we agreed that this could be an awesome opportunity to remind audiences about the stellar work she was doing in independent films, like 'All the Real Girls' and 'The Good Girl.' Now that she has such a big fanbase with her comedy work on TV with 'The New Girl,' I think this film was a really great opportunity to remind people what a great actress she is overall."

The Driftless Area arrives on DVD and Digital on April 26.
