Ezra Miller's 'The Flash' Could Add Iris West, Eobard Thawne, Captain Cold and Jay Garrick?
It looks like DC Extended Universe's version of The Flash isn't stopping with just recasting Barry Allen as Ezra Miller. In addition to snubbing Grant Gustin's Scarlet Speedster in the CW show, Warner Bros. might be looking for a new Iris West, Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash, Leonard Snart/Captain Cold and Jay Garrick!
According to Heroic Hollywood, the studio is currently auditioning actresses who could portray Iris in Miller's standalone Flash movie. Warner Bros. is in search of females who could play "a reporter at The Central City Citizen" who has "Christianne Amanpour's brains and Carrie Bradshaw's style." Although it certainly sounds like the character played by Candace Patton on CW's The Flash, there is no word as whether the actress is being considered for the role.
The report also details that Thawne is "Central City's Bill Gates" and happens to be "the smartest man in the room." Like the character portrayed by Tom Cavanagh in the first season of The Flash, the DCEU's version of Thawne is "confined to a chair." However, he relies on the help of Captain Cold, who is described as "being ex-military." In the CW show, Snart is played by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, who now appears in the spinoff series DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
In addition to the other characters, Jay is expected to make a cameo in The Flash film, which will also feature Barry's friend Fred Chyre. In the movie, Fred is a detective who is "investigating the unusual death of someone at Thawne Laboratories."
Most fans were initially uncertain about Warner Bros.' decision to recast Barry for the solo film, especially since Gustin's portrayal of The Flash already has an established following. However, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has explained that the film exists in a different multiverse.
The second season of The Flash continues to air on The CW every Tuesday nights. Miller's The Flash solo film is scheduled for release on March 16, 2018.
