Jay-Z's dreams of adding sports agent to his long resume of careers may be stunted by one major factor-The Grammy Award winning rapper and business mogul, is not certified.

Based on rules passed by the NFLPA in 2012, Jay-Z can't recruit players to sign with CAA unless Jay-Z becomes an NFLPA-certified agent, NFL Sports reported.

According to NFL Sports, the concerns emerged because rival agents see the obvious problem with having Jay-Z recruit Giants receiver Victor Cruz to sign with CAA.  The NFLPA reportedly has no problem with the connection, given Jay-Z's established friendship with Cruz.

Jay-Z must know the rules that is why Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal reported that Jay-Z plans to become certified, however; the next available opportunity for certification is January 2014. There is a requirement of a post graduate degree, which can be lifted by the NFLPA pending the applicant has had seven years of "negotiating experience," according to the NFL Players Association website.

Jay-Z has rapped about skipping out on college, to hustle on the mean streets of Marcy Projects, in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.  Nevertheless, the natural born hustler is a prime example that college is not for everyone.

While Jay-Z can handle endorsements and off-field deals for NFL players without NFLPA agent certification, he can have no involvement in recruiting players to sign with CAA for their football contracts unless he's certified, reported NFL Sports.

Only time will tell if Mr. Carter's NFL agent ambitions are in the near future.  Do you think he will get a BA and becoming certified the traditional way, or will the NFL wave the rules, based on his celebrity and past business endevours?
